On September 10, 2020 Prof. Dr. Jasminko Novak and Ana Grimaldo presented the SIT4Energy project at the AI Symposium of the University of Applied Sciences Stralsund.
The project was presented as part of Prof. Novak talk on his research in the area of Human-centered Artificial Intelligence in which he explores how AI applications can be developed that focus on people and their life and take into account the impact on the economy, the environment and society. In interdisciplinary research projects, practical digital innovations are developed with companies and target users, such as personalised recommendation services and digital assistants to optimise water and electricity consumption for end consumers, which promote more sustainable behaviour in everyday life.
As an example, Prof. Novak presented the work from the SIT4Energy project on AI applications and smart dashboards that enable even small energy providers and municipal utilities without AI expertise and programming skills to obtain easy-to-understand forecasts and analyses of electricity demand and supply in grids with a high share of renewable energy. This supports them in optimising their business models and offering new, sustainability-oriented services for their customers. Ana Grimaldo also presented the project with two posters including the development of the adaptive incentivation service for the mobile recommender for sustainable energy behaviour.
